LYNKtec, the makers of the microfiber TruGlide stylus is back with another stylus. Called the TruGlide Apex, it’s actually a project that’s seeking funders at Kickstarter. We’ve covered a lot of fine point stylus here but what’s unique about this one is that it’s using a hardened rubber tip that’s 2.4mm in size. Most rubber nibs out there tend to be bigger at 6.0mm and it does not give you precision.
The TruGlide Apex uses electronic circuitry to simulate a finger which will allow the device to register a touch. This special tip makes it possible to use this stylus across all apps and you don’t need to pair it via Bluetooth. Like all rubber tips, it’s not as durable as others but there’s replacement nibs in case you need them.
The stylus is also built with quality in mind where the stylus body is made of metal with a brushed silver coating. Currently the stylus will work on the iPad 2/3/4 and the iPad Mini. It does not work on the iPhone and other devices though as the touch screen circuitry varies for other manufacturers.
The TruGlide Apex is powered by a single AAAA battery an is estimated to be able to last 20 hours for the final product. You just turn it on or off by turning the top of the stylus body.
As of time of writing, this project is successfully funded but you can still get one by pledging $39 or more before November 10 2013. Find out more from the Kickstarter page. Here’s a video demo of this stylus below.
I backed this project on Kickstarter and was thrilled to receive my new Apex last week! I have the brushed silver color, which has a sleek, elegant look. It writes and glides across my screen smoothly and silently. This is exactly what I was looking for in a stylus.
I read about the “pen to paper feeling” in reviews for this product and didn’t think it was actually going to feel like a pen on paper. However, it’s amazing how real that feeling is! I love using this stylus and would highly recommend it.
Has anyone used this yet? Seems to me the best of the new kickstarter stylus coming out.
Definitely a new kind of stylus, the Apex brings the pen to paper feel to our hands. And it does such a nice job! Writing and drawing are so precise with this stylus because of the hardened rubber tip, only 2.3 mm. The look is sleek and professional and I enjoy using the Apex and my iPad in meetings now over a pen and paper.
